Recording transcribed:
“His nose is a flower,
and I think that his legs are tree trunks,
and I think that his arms are branches,
and I think that , em, his soul is a sky,
I think his hair is the top of the tree
and I think that … um, his um, eyes are leaves
with beatles inside them
and I think that, um, well, I think that his brain is a cloud.”
Mom: “and who are you talking about?”
Lulu: “God.”

/ August 13, 2012I love it, Lulu. You have a sensative heart towards God. My favorite parts, “his nose is a flower” and “his soul is the sky”. Wow! How many five year olds know that God has a soul? God is watching over you Lu. I bet he loved hearing your description!

/ August 15, 2012Love it! Here’s my favorite poem for Lulu. I hope she likes it.
By Joyce Kilmer. 1886–1918
Trees
I THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth’s flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
